MISys Manufacturing is a true client/server application. That is, some components of MISys Manufacturing are designed to run on a client computer and some components are designed to run on a server. MISys Manufacturing consists of three components, the MISys Manufacturing Client, the MISys Manufacturing Server and the Database, which can be installed on a single personal computer, on a local area network of office computers, or across the Internet.
MISys Manufacturing Server
The computer on which the MISys Manufacturing server components are installed should have:
- an Intel Pentium 2GHz or faster processor (Pentium IV or equivalent recommended)
- 1GB of RAM or greater
- 1GB of available hard-disk space (hard-disk use will vary depending on configuration; custom installation choices might require more or less hard-disk space).
- Live connection to the Internet (HTTP, Port 80)
Since the server computer hosts the MISys Manufacturing database and must handle traffic from multiple users, you are advised to consult a qualified system architect to prescribe server hardware which will best suit your needs.
There are a number of network topologies on which MISys Manufacturing can be run successfully. However, we specifically urge you NOT to deploy MISys Manufacturing on a peer-to-peer network.
Server Operating System
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Windows XP Professional Edition, Windows Vista Business Edition, or Windows 7 Professional.
- Internet Information Services 5.0 or later.
Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 or later
MISys Manufacturing Client
The computer(s) on which the MISys Manufacturing client components are installed should have:
- an Intel Pentium 1GHz or faster processor (Pentium IV or equivalent recommended)
- 500Mb of RAM or greater
- 1 GB of available hard-disk space
- a monitor with super VGA (800 × 600) or better resolution.
Client Operating System
- Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Windows Vista Home Edition or Windows 7 Professional.
- Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 or later
Combined MISys Manufacturing Client/Server
Where necessary the client components and the server components can be installed on the same computer. In general, it is preferable to install the serve components on one fairly high-powered computer, whereas the client components can be installed on less powerful desktop computers.
The computer on which the MISys Manufacturing client and server components are installed should have:
- an Intel Pentium 2GHz or faster processor (Pentium IV or equivalent recommended)
- 1Gb of RAM or greater
- 1GB of available hard-disk space.
Client/ Server Operating System (Single User)
If you wish to run MISys Manufacturing in single user mode, then you must have:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Home Edition, Windows Vista Home Edition, or Windows 7 Professional.
- Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 or later
Client/ Server Operating System (Multiple User)
If you wish to run MISys Manufacturing in multiple user mode (other MISys Manufacturing clients are connected to the client/server connected, then you must have:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Professional Edition, Windows Vista Business Edition or Windows 7 Professional, and Internet Information Services 5.0 or later.
- Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0
Printer
A compatible laser printer capable of printing at least 132-characters per line. You will probably want to consider using a reasonably high speed (12+ppm) laser printer with MISys Manufacturing because many of the reports are lengthy. Slower auxiliary laser printers may be useful for printing purchase orders and work orders.
Internet connection
Internet functionality requires broadband Internet access (provided separately); local or long-distance charges may apply.
Database Software
- Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition (for 5 concurrent users or fewer)
- A license for Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition is included with the MISys Manufacturing software.

- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or later Database Engine (for more than 5 concurrent users)
