MISys replaces Accpac ERP solution
WOODSTOCK, VERMONT
August 2010
Manufacturing Information Systems (MISys, Inc.) today announced that its integrated manufacturing software product called MISys SAE (MISys Manufacturing for Sage Accpac ERP) will no longer be available for sale to new customers after September 30, 2010. In its place, MISys, Inc. is offering the versatile and proven manufacturing software, "MISys SBM."
Earlier this year, MISys announced an enhanced Maintenance Plan for existing users of MISys SAE ensuring them of continued product upgrades and technical support for the forseeable future. The Plan allows existing users to purchase additional modules and user licenses after the September 30 new-sale cut-off date.
Presently, MISys SAE is co-marketed by Sage Software as a Sage-endorsed add-on for Accpac ERP. After September 30, the product will no longer be available from Sage or any other reseller. Existing users should contact MISys, Inc. directly, or their authorized MISys business partner, to purchase product upgrades and maintenance plans.
On June 1st of this year, MISys released a new version of its state of the art MISys SBM (the successor to MISys SAE) which offers full compatibility with the current version of Sage Accpac ERP. Commenting on the future relationship between MISys and Sage, Charlie Kimbell, MISys Vice President of Marketing said "Our relationship with Sage dates back to 1986 when we released our first Accpac-compatible manufacturing system. Over the years we have built a strong channel of Sage Accpac/MISys business partners with over 7,000 installations worldwide. Being recognized by Sage as an "Endorsed Solution" was a testament to our mutual success serving small- to medium-sized manufacturing firms. We remain as committed as ever to the Sage Accpac partners and through our new product, SBM, while servicing the existing users of SAE."
Recently, a 9-part webinar series entitled "Essentials of Accpac Manufacturing" was attended by over 75 Accpac business partners who are interested in adding MISys SBM to their selection of Accpac-compatible vertical market solutions.
Terry Merrill, MISys' Director of Strategic Partnerships is responsible for the company's relationship with Sage, Intuit, and Microsoft. Regarding the Accpac reseller channel, Terry stated "We have over 700 business partners who sell and support our MISys products in the U.S., Canada and worldwide. The majority of our business partners have already begun selling MISys SBM to their exisiting and new customers as they realize the strength of our newer products in the manufacturing arena."
At the annual Sage Insights Convention last May, MISys President and CEO Dave Brown laid out his vision for the future of the MISys product line. "For three years, our company has been developing two parallel products. Effective immediately, we are announcing our decision to retire MISys SAE so we can concentrate our efforts on the future which, for us, is MISys SBM."
Last year Sage announced the development of an all-new platform for its accounting system called Sage Accpac ERP version 6. Presently the release of Accpac ERP v6.x is slated for Q4'2011.
Brown addded "Users who wish to stick with Accpac v5.x are welcome to do so. There's no pressure to abandon MISys SAE because of our stated committment to remain compatible with Accpac ERP version 5. However, users who intend to move ahead with Sage Accpac ERP v6 can upgrade now or later to MISys SBM because the product is 5.x-compatible today and will be 6.x-compatible when Accpac completes the product line next year. Ultimately, we'll have just one manufacturing add-on for all Sage and Intuit accounting products. It will be called MISys Manufacturing version 6."
MISys is a Sage Endorsed Partner for the Sage Peachtree Quantum Manufacturing Edition and is a Gold Partner for Sage Simply and Sage Accpac.
